REDCO JOINS AS COPPER SPONSOR OF THE GIRA MINERA 2025 OF THE CAM OF THE UNIVERSIDAD DE CHILE

The mining engineering consultancy will support the Gira Minera 2025 as a Copper sponsor, the flagship academic project of the Centro de Alumnos de Ingeniería Civil de Minas of the Universidad de Chile (CAM). The initiative will allow students in the final stage of their degree to tour world-class operations, enriching their education with hands-on experience in the field.
This year’s itinerary, which will run from October 13 to 21, includes visits to mine sites and plants of leading companies such as Freeport-McMoRan (El Abra), BHP (Spence), Glencore (Altonorte and Lomas Bayas), CMP (Puerto Punta Totoralillo, Planta Magnetita and Cerro Negro Norte) and Lundin Mining (Candelaria).
The sponsorship was driven by the firm’s Executive Management, led by Enrique Rubio, a former student and former professor at the same university. For him, the tour is a unique opportunity for students to close out their university years by experiencing first-hand what they learned in the classroom, strengthening the confidence with which they will face the challenges of real-world mining.
The initiative also had the backing of the company’s Marketing and Communications Department, integrating this sponsorship into a broader strategy of engagement with academia and support for human capital development.
The CAM 2025 board was especially appreciative of the partnership: “We want to express our deepest gratitude for joining as a sponsor of the Gira Minera 2025. This academic initiative seeks to strengthen students’ education through a unique experience in the field, and having the support of a company of excellence is key to making it possible. Thank you for betting on the talent of the new generations and for contributing to the preparation of those who will lead the future of mining”, said the board of the student center.
