
REDCO AND REDTEC PRESENT STRATEGIES AT EXPOCOBRE 2026 TO MITIGATE FINANCIAL RISK AND OPTIMIZE MINING INFRASTRUCTURE

With a dual approach that integrates high-level financial evaluation and specialized engineering design, REDCO Mining Consultants took part in the technical program of EXPOCOBRE 2026, held in Lima from April 27 to 29. The firm presented concrete methodologies to address two of the industry’s greatest current challenges: management decision-making in the face of market volatility and the optimization of critical infrastructure design.
On the strategic front, Jorman Barrera, Principal Engineer at REDCO, presented an advanced methodology for the valuation of underground mining projects in scenarios of price uncertainty. His presentation contrasted the traditional discounted cash flow (DCF) model with the application of “real options”. This dynamic approach makes it possible to quantify the financial value of operational flexibility —such as the decision to expand production capacity— and provides precise risk metrics (probability and expected loss margin), which are essential to protect the project’s value against fluctuations in metal prices.
For his part, Kevin Llecllish, representing REDTEC Technology —the group’s technology and engineering solutions unit—, went deeper into the engineering design for Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) applied to water infrastructure in open pit mining. The analysis established a structured framework to evaluate the design of this technology against conventional methods, highlighting how cutting-edge engineering enables greater construction efficiency from the planning stage, drastically reduces operational interference and minimizes the impact on active environments.
