
PREFEASIBILITY STUDY FOR UNDERGROUND OPERATION – USA

REDCO developed a prefeasibility study aimed at mining a copper deposit through underground mining. The work included the assessment of a massive oxide and sulphide body using the Sublevel Stoping method with cemented paste backfill, projecting a production rate of 16,000 tonnes per day and an annual output of 80,000 tonnes of fine copper.
The project involved updating a 3D geotechnical model based on more than 60,000 meters of oriented drilling, which made it possible to define geotechnical units, strength properties and structural domains of the rock mass. On that basis, the mining units and their sequence were sized and optimized, complemented by laboratory testing and numerical modeling (RS3) to ensure the stability and strength of the backfill. As a result, a robust mine plan was established, including cost and investment estimates and key financial indicators to support the following stages of the project.
