RADIO AGRICULTURA: PATRICIO VERGARA (REDCO USA) DISCUSSES DECISION-MAKING IN UNDERGROUND MINING

Patricio Vergara, Country Manager of REDCO Mining Consultants, was recently interviewed on the Minería y Energía Sustentable program on Radio Agricultura, where he addressed the main technical challenges of underground mining and mine planning in highly complex projects, focusing on how to structure critical variables for robust and executable decision-making.
During the conversation, his career in highly demanding markets was highlighted, noting his experience in Indonesia, where he served as Project Manager at PT Freeport, and his work in the USA, leading initiatives for companies such as BHP and Twin Metals. This international exposure, across different operational frameworks and performance standards, is part of REDCO’s approach.
The interview also covered his previous role as Vice President of Mineral Resources and Development at Codelco, a position from which he drove portfolio management and the advancement of structural projects for the state-owned company, integrating resources, planning and strategic priorities in highly demanding contexts.
On the program, Vergara emphasized that the value of the Chilean professional abroad rests on a distinctive capability: solving complex problems associated with deep underground mining, where the interaction between geomechanics, design, sequence and operational constraints demands precise and timely decisions. This knowledge, he noted, is currently in high demand in North America, especially in projects that require solid technical definition in order to move forward with speed and risk control.
The interview achieved a significant level of reach, surpassing 15,000 views, which shows the sector’s interest in specialized technical content and in voices with direct experience in operations and projects inside and outside Chile. REDCO’s participation in specialized media reinforces its commitment to developing mining consulting based on technical knowledge, international experience and a rigorous outlook geared toward the effective execution of projects.
